How literature can help in the mental health

INSTRUCTIONS THESIS

Good morning,

I’m going to give you some rules to follow to proceed with my thesis.
The first part is about the structure.
The second part about the content.

STRUCTURE

The thesis has to be an argumentative text where a specific research theme will be presented through scientific literatures, explored with an adequate methodology and discussed through the literature presented at the beginning.
In the argument’s presentation will be important the voice of the author, that guides the discussion through scientific texts.

This has to be the structure:

Abstract:
100-250 words, it is a summary of the work presented, of the research questions, methodology used and the main conclusions and contributed brought to the world through our thesis.
Index:
not count as words but please put it – all chapters with number
Introduction:
Introduction deals with the main argument, the research question, the relevance of the argument for the science of communication and it offers a panorama on the way to proceed and the structure of the thesis.
Literature review:
the review of the scientific literature arguments in a critic way the choice of the theme. This means that you have to discuss about the choice of the theme (literature as help for mental illness). analyzing and dealing with the lacks and controverting aspects of the topic.
On the base of this literature you give a more specific appearance to the research question, for example at the beginning it can be how literature help mental health and then you delineate it more precisely saying how narrative can help people through personality disorders
Methodology
It describes the world where the investigation takes place, the criteria used, the way the dates have been collected, the type and the criteria that let you arrive to the results.
Results
Collected dates and results of the analysis developed. It is not sufficient to expose the dates believing that they explain themselves alone, and you can’t do affirmation not founded.
It is required instead to show the dates and insert them in the argumentative discourse of the thesis, for example organizing them according to analytics themes proposed in the part of the literature review.
Discussion
Author reflects and discuss critically over the datas and on the descriptive results of the past chapter, making emerge the contributions of the thesis.
Conclusion
Summary of the work done and of the results, limits of the thesis, implication for theory and practice.
Bibliography
Bibliography references according to the defined standards – Apa

CONTENTS
This theory has to content the following elements and making emerge some points explained above.
It deals with the theme of how literature can help mental health. In particular we focus on how literature can help to cure mental illness, as an instrument
• You have to explain and discuss about which type of literature we choose and why. For example, speak about the fact that poetry is not a good choice because it can cause rumination and this is a problem for who suffers of depression, suicide… I would like to choose between the different choices (social book, fantasy, book of self -help.) the narrative.
• You have to take in consideration the work of Sylvia Path, “The bell jar”
• Mental health is a very huge topic, so please define that we are going to speak just about the personal disorder (borderline personality, narcissistic, antisocial…)
• In the thesis we must pretend to have done an empirical experiment. It has to be a qualitative experiment; this means open interview to some experts and patients. They have to be a psychiatrist, two psychoanalysts (one of the cognitive school and one from dynamic) and then two people that are in cure and have read a book, advised by their doctor as instrument in the therapy. One person will suffer from borderline personality and one from narcissistic personality.
