The PHPA will address a public health policy topic of your choice in a geographic area of your choice. Together with its. The topic should be a public health policy issue of your choice that is important in an area of your choosing: local, state or national level.

The PHPA simulates a student functioning as a healthcare policy expert to policy-makers at a local, state or national level by preparing a health policy analysis composed and written consistent with Chapter 14 of the text. As such it will have a Problem Statement, Background, Landscape, Options and a Recommendation. It will consist of a title page, the analysis, an Annotated Bibliography of at least 10 documented research references in current APA format

Instructions for preparing Public Health Policy Analysis paper

For purposes of this assignment, the Public Health Policy Analysis paper is a policy analysis structured and written consistent with Chapter 14 of the Text and its definition at page 319 as “informed advice to a client that relates to a healthcare public policy decision, that includes a recommended course of action or inaction, and is framed by the client’s powers and values”. The Annotated Bibliography serves to document the informed advice.

The paper will use the Text’s methodology in Chapter 14 to analyze the impact of changes to the US health system on healthcare practitioners, healthcare quality or the healthcare process. The paper will recommend dispositions, include at least 3 options and will recommend only one option. The Annotated Bibliography contains evidence of documented research.

The paper is to address the following 5 policy concept development stages per page 319 of our Text:

Section 1. Problem identification: define the problem addressed in the analysis.

Section 2. Background: provide factual information needed to understand the problem.

Section 3. Landscape: review a list of various stakeholders and their concerns.

Section 4. Options: describe and analyze at least 3 options to address the problem.

Section 5. Recommendation: identify and explain pros and cons of a single recommendation.
