Although the criminal justice system is comprised of many components, the point of first contact for the public is law enforcement. As your previous assignments demonstrated, use of deadly force is the most controversial part of law enforcement and can overshadow all the positives that the criminal justice system provides to a society. Additionally, since using force is an unavoidable part of law enforcement, criticism of the degree or appropriateness of the force used on a subject alone does not provide any help to the managers responsible for formulating or revising policy.

Review the article listed below and provide an analytical response to the recommendations made by the author:

Are the recommendations practical and useful for law enforcement?

If the emerging technologies discussed could reduce death and injury and prevent or reduce the use of force, would you, as a law enforcement manager, recommend their implementation?

If the public strongly disagrees with the implementation of new technology, despite its utilitarian benefits, as a law enforcement executive or civic leader, what would be your response?

What realistic and practical options can you recommend as an alternative to use of deadly force by the police?
