Considering the Ethical Considerations of Your Design

Purpose

Anticipating potential ethical concerns and developing procedures to mitigate these are an important part of the development a research plan. This assignment will provide the opportunity to think about ethical implications of a research study and develop plans to mitigate those risks.

Course Objectives
CO 1: Demonstrate proficiency in the use of selected research methods and tools.
CO 6: Examine ethical issues related to research.
CO 8: Judge the usefulness of various research approaches: content analysis, survey and field research, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and case studies.

Requirements and Guidelines
Review the Course Outcomes for this assignment, which are listed above.
For this assignment you will assess the primary ethical concerns involving research with human subjects- voluntary participation, informed consent, physical and mental harm, confidentiality, privacy and withholding treatment.
For each concern, identify if it can be a concern for your study and how it would be minimized. State any methods or additional precautions that would be implemented. If it is not an issue, state that.
In a summary paragraph, defend the study in terms of the risk/benefit ratio.
The paper should be no more than 3 pages in length.
