We have all been devastated, with our lives being turned upside-down because of the global pandemic of COVID-19, the switch of your academic life from going to class everyday to converting those classes to the online environment, and the effects of the assassinations (murders) of Ahmaud Armery, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor (if you don’t know her story look it up), and finally the protests and demonstrations that have rocked the nation in response to their killings at the hands of white supremacists and police. As I am writing this, the Memorial Service of George Floyd is on my television.

Directions:

Write a 4-5 page essay, in MLA format, with parenthetical citations (at least 3), and an MLA Works Cited Page.

Prompt:

In your essay, address your experiences during this pandemic. Focus on how you have adapted to staying home during the quarantine and converting your college experience to online instruction. Perhaps focus on the economic struggles you and your family have endured during this time. Next, I want you to comment on personal stories of people who have been affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Who do you know has been affected by the global pandemic. Nearly 110,000 people have perished from the virus. How have you been affected by the stories who have suffered from this pandemic? Finally, I want you to comment on issues surrounding the death of George Floyd and the others. How do you feel about the peaceful protests? I know that the press focuses on the looting and the violence, I want you to focus on the standoffs between police and the Trump Administration desire to use active duty military troops on American citizens in every state.
