The first article on Ancient Egypt talks about stability and longevity. Please explain what this means as it relates to the Art and Cultural production of Ancient Egypt using works of art and/or architecture as examples. (6-sentence minimum)

Write short response to the article in which you address the following: 1) identify and describe two purposes of the palette, 2) identify two gods who are represented on the palette, 3) What do the two different crowns worn by Narmer signify? 4) Choose one of the two possible interpretations of the narrative and describe it in detail.
3) Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and Large Kneeling Statue
Write a short response to the video and address the following: 1) in what way did women participate in roles of power in ancient Egypt before Hatshepsut? 2) How does Hatshepsut adopt the forms/symbols/visual language of kingship/the power of the king (normally associated with male Pharaohs) in representations of herself? 3) We know that Hatshepsut’s co-ruler for a time and ultimate successor Thutmose III destroyed dozens of images of Hatshepsut upon her death. What might be the reason for this?
4) Akhenaten, Neferiti and Three Daughters
Write a response to the video and address the following: 1) Akhenaten changes his name from Amenhotep IV upon assuming the throne, why? What does his new name mean? 2) What was the purpose/function of this relief sculpture? 3) What is different about how Akhenaten is depicted here (i.e. who he is with and how these figures interact with the Pharaoh and each other) as compared with depictions of other Pharaohs? 4) Describe the style of the depiction of the anatomy of Akhenaten and Neferiti and suggest an explanation for this stylistic break from traditional depictions of previous Pharaohs.
5) Explain why the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb is so remarkable? Describe at least one of the objects discovered in his tomb. (2 paragraphs)
