Abortion

This module explores the moral and legal issue of abortion. We will be looking at abortion contextually by examining facts and statistics to help us to understand what the problem actually is and what its history has been, and we will be looking at an argument for the pro-life position and an argument for the pro-choice position. By the end of this module you should be know the facts and statistics presented and you should be able to articulate both arguments.

“One Idea” Assignments

In each “One Idea” assignment, your task is to explain one idea that you found particularly interesting in the readings or the content presentations for that week. To do well, you will have to explain the idea in detail, explain why you found it interesting, and analyze it in depth.

The word counts are minimum word counts for each part of the assignment; feel free to write more than the minimum.

The entire assignment must be written entirely in your own words.

Part 1 (100 words)

Explain clearly and in detail the idea that you found most interesting in the readings or content presentation. Make sure you focus on just one specific idea; do not try to summarize the week’s topic. Also, this part is just for explaining the idea, not your own opinions about it.

Part 2 (75 words)

Explain why you found the idea interesting, showing thoughtful reflection as to its significance.

Part 3 (100 words)

Analyze and evaluate the idea as deeply as you can, using one of the following methods:

Critique: show why you believe the idea to be false or poorly supported.
Ask and Answer: ask and answer new and insightful questions about the idea.
Defend: consider the reasons why a person might believe it to be false, then respond to those reasons.
Support: give new reasons for why you believe the idea to be true.
